Horseheads Teen Named First Alternative New York Dairy Princess

Alyssa Roorda, a senior at Horseheads High School, was named the First Alternate from among 22 contestants who competed for the Dairy Princess title at the 56th Annual New York State Dairy Princess Pageant sponsored by the American Dairy Association North East (ADANE) on February 19 in Liverpool, New York. Over the next year, she will help represent ADANE and promote the state’s nationally renowned milk and dairy products at farm meetings and special events throughout New York.

Senator Tom O’Mara welcomed Alyssa to Albany at the New York Farm Bureau’s annual Taste of New York Reception and Lobby Day on Monday, March 4 in the Empire State Plaza. O’Mara also congratulated Hailey Pipher, also of Chemung County, on her year long reign as the 2018-2019 New York State Dairy Princess.

“Chemung County continues to be well represented,” O’Mara said in a press release. “Thank you to Hailey Pipher on her outstanding reign as the State Dairy Princess over the past year.  Now, congratulations to Alyssa for her fantastic and well-deserved success at this year’s Dairy Princess Pageant.  Alyssa will be busy in the year ahead making us proud as a prominent ambassador for our regional and statewide dairy industry.”
