Ten Arrested In Endicott Drug Bust

On March 5, 2019, after a lengthy investigation into the sale of crystal methamphetamine, investigators from the Community Narcotics Enforcement Team, members from State Police Troop C, the State Police Special Operations Response Team, the Endicott Police Department and the Broome County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence on Arthur Avenue in the village of Endicott. Troopers arrested eight people who were inside the home, and arrested two others during a traffic stop related to the investigation.

A search of the residence netted approximately one ounce of crystal methamphetamine, suboxone, a 38-caliber handgun, an illegal knife, various controlled substance medications, digital scales and packaging materials.

The following were inside the residence and were arrested and charged as follows:

Paul R. Panella, age 54 of Endicott, NY
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (intent to sell), felony
Three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, misdemeanor
Two counts of Criminal Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd degree, misdemeanor

Elizabeth D. Bickham, age 19 of Endicott, NY
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (intent to sell), felony
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th degree, felony
Criminal Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd degree, misdemeanor
Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree, misdemeanor
Loitering 1st degree, misdemeanor
Bickham was also wanted on two separate warrants.

Anthony C. Jefferson, age 32 of Endicott, NY
Six counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, misdemeanor
Criminal Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd degree, misdemeanor
Loitering 1st degree, misdemeanor

Emilio L. Sees, age 29 of Endicott, NY
Six counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, misdemeanor
Criminal Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd degree, misdemeanor
Loitering 1st degree, misdemeanor

Anthony M. Kormos, age 28 of Apalachin, NY
Six counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, misdemeanor
Criminal Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd degree, misdemeanor
Loitering 1st degree, misdemeanor
Kormos was found to be in violation of parole and also wanted on a felony warrant.

Amber K. Garnier, age 29 of Endicott, NY
Criminal Nuisance 1st degree, felony

Corey M. Allan, age 25 of Whitney Point, NY
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, misdemeanor
Loitering 1st degree, misdemeanor

Gypzy M. Varga, age 35 of Endicott, NY
False Personation, misdemeanor
Loitering 1st degree, misdemeanor

Prior to the execution of the warrant, surveillance observed a vehicle leave the residence then park down the street.  As Troopers approached the vehicle, the driver exited the vehicle and attempted to discard methamphetamine.  After an investigation, the driver was identified as Matthew C. Wood, was arrested.  The passenger of the vehicle, McKenna N. Westgate, was also arrested.  Troopers located approximately 3.5 ounces of methamphetamine, suboxone, packaging material and digital scales.

Matthew C. Wood, age 34 of Endicott, NY was charged with:
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st degree, felony
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (intent to sell), felony
Tampering with Evidence, felony
Two counts of Criminal Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd degree, misdemeanor
Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, misdemeanor
Wood was also wanted on a felony warrant.

McKenna N. Westgate, age 21 of Vestal, NY was charged with:
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd degree, felony
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (intent to sell), felony
Two counts of Criminal Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd degree, misdemeanor

Wood, Westgate, Panella and Bickham were all transported to Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing and remanded to the Broome County Jail on no bail.  Kormos was released on appearance tickets returnable to the village of Endicott Court then turned over to the Johnson City Police Department to answer to his warrant charges.  Jefferson, Sees, Garnier, Allan and Varga were all released on appearance tickets.
