Police are investigating an armed robbery which took place in the City of Elmira Tuesday evening.
At 9:30 pm Elmira Police responded to an address on East Hudson St for a report of an armed robbery. Upon arrival officers found that one victim had received a contusion to his left eye after being physically struck with a handgun. The suspects had fled the area prior to police arrival. The victim declined medical treatment and was further interviewed along with the second victim.
The victims reported that three masked subjects forced their way into the residence and an altercation ensued, at which time the victim was struck with the gun. Both victims then barricaded themselves in separate rooms to avoid further attack. While one victim hid in a bathroom he reported hearing a single gunshot. Officers located and retrieved a single projectile from a wall inside the residence, however no one had been shot.
The victims were able to identify two of the suspects by name. One of these suspects was located, interviewed and subsequently released. The Elmira Police Dept believe that the parties involved knew each other and were targeting the victim for specific property. No weapon was located as a result of the investigation. The case remains pending further investigation.
The Elmira Police Department is asking any witnesses or anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the Elmira Police Department at (607)737-5626, or the tip line at (607)271-HALT.
