Police Investigate Shots Fired In Ithaca

On Wednesday evening at approximately 6:10 PM, the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office were called to the 300 block of Maple Avenue in the Town of Ithaca for a report of gun shots fired.
Upon arrival, deputies determined that no one was injured and that the suspect had fled the area in a Silver Kia sedan. Shortly after the initial call to the Tompkins County 911 Center, a New York State Police unit observed the Silver Kia traveling South on State Route 13 in the Town of Newfield. New York State Police, with assistance from the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office stopped the Silver Kia on State Route 13 near Alpine Junction.
The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
Deputies located a spent shell casing inside an apartment on Maple Avenue and a bullet lodged in a tree outside of the apartment.
The suspects name is not being given at this time due to the pending investigation.
The New York State Police, Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office, Ithaca Police Department, Cornell University Police Department and Cayuga Heights Police Department assisted with this call.
