During a dinner held on National School Nurses Day on May 8, 2019, Elmira City School District’s Nurse Practitioner, Kim Holden, received the prestigious Award of Excellence in School Nursing for 2019. New York State Association of School Nurses (NYSAN) recognizes school nurses in New York State who excel in their practice of school nursing.
According to a press release from the district, Holden was chosen because she has shown exemplary quality service in her school nurse practice relative to standards including assessments, diagnosis, planning and implementation, evidence-based practice and education. She was also recognized for her professional practice and strengths in ethics, communication, collaboration, leadership and program management.
“What a lovely honor to receive this award,” Holden said. “School health is such a rewarding specialty; I truly love providing care to our students, and supporting our outstanding nursing staff so that they can do their wonderful work.”
