A local support group for those dealing with the loss of a loved one to suicide are seeking donations of new toys to be distributed to children in local homeless shelters and hospital pediatric units.
Corning Hospital, 2016
The group “Smile Through The Storms”, started by Elmira resident Deb Maxwell after the loss of her son David, has been collecting and distributing toys to area kids for the past two years. Maxwell says it’s not only a way to make some “lil people” extra happy at Christmas time, but also “… in memory of our angels gone too soon.”
Maxwell says any toys people would like to donate, including coloring books, stuffed animals, dolls, and more, are appreciated.
