One Injured In Crash In Elmira

This morning at around 11:00 am the Elmira Police Department responded to Clemens Center Parkway and East Gray Street for a car/ motorcycle crash, with reported injury.

Upon arrival officers found both vehicles still in the roadway and promptly secured the accident scene.  The investigation found that a Volvo sedan was traveling North on Clemens Center Parkway attempting to turn left onto East Gray Street when the operator failed to yield the right of way to the motorcycle traveling South on Clemens Center Parkway.

The operator of the motorcycle was ejected forward as a result of the impact and both he and the motorcycle came to rest in the southbound lane.  The operator of the motorcycle was transported to an area hospital for leg injuries, he was conscious and alert.  Both vehicles were towed from the scene due to damage.

Police located and spoke to two independent witnesses to the accident.  As a result of the investigation the operator of the Volvo sedan was issued a ticket for failure to yield the right of way while turning left.
