Police Respond To Bomb Threat At CAF USA

This morning at around 11:49 A.M. the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office and the Elmira Heights Police Department responded to CAF USA, located at 300 E. 18th Street in the Town of Horseheads for a reported bomb threat.

Police evacuated the facility and K-9 units trained in explosive detection from the City of Binghamton Police Department and New York State Police responded to the scene to assist with clearing the manufacturing facility of any potential threat. No explosive devices were located at the facility. As a result of the threat, the manufacturing facility was closed for approximately four hours.

Investigators from the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Divisionare working with administrators from the facility to determine the source of the threat.

Sheriff Bill Schrom says the Sheriff’s Office takes these types of threats seriously and will criminally charge all persons found to be involved in the threat.
