Area Children Will Have Chance To “Shop With A Cop”

The Chemung County Deputy Sheriff’s Association announced earlier today that they will be holding their first annual Shop with a Cop event. This event is scheduled for this coming Saturday from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M.

Shop with a Cop provides a fun filled day for a number of children in need throughout Chemung County, while helping to form positive relationships with law enforcement. The participating children were nominated by staff from the Elmira City School district, Horseheads School district, and the Elmira Heights School district.

On the day of the event, uniformed officers from the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office, Horseheads Police Department, and Elmira Heights Police Department will be volunteering their time to be with the children. The children will participate in a law enforcement procession from the Arnot Mall to Target for shopping with their “Partner for the Day”. Each child will be shopping for gifts for their family members. After shopping, the children will spend time with their “Partner” and have lunch while wrapping the gifts they selected.

The Chemung County Deputy Sheriff’s Association in partnership with Horseheads PBA, Elmira Heights PBA, and Elmira PBA would like to thank the Arnot Mall, Target, Chemung County Transit, The Great American Cookie Company (Arnot Mall), Hersey’s Ice Cream (Arnot Mall), and Harry’s Inn for the generous donations that made this event possible.
