Search Warrant Nets Large Amount Of Drugs, Three Arrested In Southport

Three people have been arrested after police executed a search warrant in the Town of Southport.

At around 6:30 am today, the Chemung County Sheriff’s Department Special Services unite executed a search warrant at 918 Spruce Street.

According to Sheriff William Schrom, as a result of the search warrant, a large quantity of crystal methamphetamine, heroin, and over four pounds of marijuana were seized. Police also seized a 9mm handgun and ammunition as well as .22 caliber ammunition, swords, a switchblade knife, and over $1,000.00 in cash.

The Sheriffs Department states that this search warrant is the result of multiple complaints from residents around the location for a little more than a month.

Three people were in the residence when the search warrant was executed and arrested.

28 year old Theodore E. Hartman III of Southport was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 2nd degree, both felony charges.

30 year old Richard J. Matwiejow of Odessa was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, a Class A misdemeanor.

26 year old Silsila A. Romance of Odessa was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, 7th Degree, a Class A misdemeanor.

Police say the seized drugs have a street value of approximately $20,000 and those operating out of and visiting the residence posed a “significant threat” to area residents. The Sheriff’s Department thanks the residents in the area who collaborated with the department.
